Personalized Pillows
"It doesn't matter where I've been or where I'm going, but what's important to me is the friends I've met along the way."
Hello, my name is Nancy Sundeen. Welcome to my PillowGram™ Website !
I hope you enjoy my PillowGrams, the “keepsake with a message™”, as much as I enjoy designing and making them. I am so excited to show you what I have to offer.
Let me share with you how I got the idea to start my business. After working many years as a single parent, and sometimes several jobs at one time, I decided to take an early retirement from a large corporation I worked at for 24+ years. I loved my job, but I made the decision to stay home and be a caregiver to my best friend, from my childhood, who was terminally ill with cancer. It is a decision I have never regretted!
I spent a lot of quality time with my friend and she gave me some great advice and insight to life. “Life is short, so follow your dreams now and take chances. Do all the fun things you couldn’t do while working full-time.”
Now that I was retired, I asked myself, what did I want to do? What did I miss when I was working? I can’t sit still and not work, I must keep busy. What am I passionate about? That came easy - my family, children, pets/animals, sewing, crafts, and reading.
At an early age I gained the love and appreciation for sewing and handwork from watching my Mother and Grandmother – both of whom are my idols. I eagerly learned how to follow in their footsteps and sew, crochet and craft.
So, how could I put all of my interests together? Having several friends in the craft show business, I decided to join in. I took my final vacation pay, and some savings and purchased a new sewing/ embroidery machine. I started making standard pillowcases, children’s aprons, doll clothes, travel pillows, tooth fairy pillows, ring bearer pillows, ornaments, embroidered towels and pet items. And I personalized all of these with machine embroidery. It was a hit! Children love to see personalized items with their names on them, and most pet owners love to identify and pamper their pets as well. I loved to see the children get so excited over the aprons, pillows and pillowcases. Oh how their eyes light up - and the huge smiles are priceless !
For Christmas of 2005, 185 standard size pillowcases were donated to the Children’s Hospital of Minneapolis. If it could put a smile on the face of a child while spending the holiday season in the hospital, my mission was accomplished. This past year several dozen more were donated to the Crisis Nursery hoping to bring a smile to children who are going through a very stressful time. A variety of my products have also been donated to several dog associations to raise money during their silent auctions.

For every breast cancer pillow sold, a donation will be given to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. My love for animals is also very passionate. I have three cats adopted from the Humane Society and three very special Bernese Mountain Dogs. Future plans include doing a fundraiser for the Animal Humane Society in Minneapolis, Minnesota. |
Making people happy is what it's all about. My idea is to make comfy, cozy and fun pillows and send them out with a special message.
All of us can help make someone’s day a brighter and happier one. By sending a PillowGram Greeting, we will put a smile on everyone's face!
Enjoy!
